So by now I think we all know that protein is an important part of a healthy diet. Though the amount of protein you need will vary based on your goals and activities, EVERYONE needs to be eating a certain amount of protein to maintain a healthy body. If you are looking to gain muscle or lose fat, this becomes even MORE important.

About a year ago, I stopped including any type of whey protein powders in my diet. I found that the protein I was taking made me gassy and bloated and I could reach my protein needs without it. Also, my goals and lifestyle shifted a bit. I was no longer training for strength and performance, and I could easily go home and make a full meal after my training was over.
I tend to be sensitive to dairy, so I wrote off whey protein completely.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that GoPrimal whey protein powders include digestive enzymes- which make it way easier for my body to break down and digest the protein without any type of stomach problems. I still am not one of those people that will drink a protein shake right after I work out (I prefer to eat!) but I have been using the GoPrimal protein for fun protein-filled snacks and breakfasts. Here is one of my new favorite creations- NO added sugar, gluten free, AND even includes vegetables!
Eat one of these bars with eggs for breakfast, enjoy it as a pre or post workout snack.. Or even as a healthy dessert option!
Ingredients:
2 cups oats
2 scoops GoPrimal chocolate whey protein
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
1 ripe banana
1/2 cup oat milk
1 cup shredded zucchini
optional: 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Process:
Heat oven to 175c. Mix all dry ingredients (except for zucchini) in a big bowl. Mash the banana and mix it in a separate bowl with the other wet ingredients. Add the wet ingredients to dry, then mix in the shredded zucchini. Bake in a greased cake tin (about 9×9 in) for 24-26 minutes. Cut into 8 big bars and enjoy! You can store these in the fridge for 3-4 days or in the freezer for 2-3 weeks.
Give these a try and let me know what you think- I think they would be delicious with cacao nibs instead of walnuts as well! Tag @bitesizenutri and @goprimal.eu on Instagram with a photo of your bars!
